National Indoor meeting of Lyon, a successful first edition !

Décines Meyzieu Athlétisme had proven its ability to organize a large outdoor middle-distance meeting. This is the result of a dynamic team of Fabien Couchot, current President of the DMA, formerly driven by Roland Schroll and, after him, his son William.

The scholarly hiring of Bastien Perraux as general manager of the club and coach for the middle distance and the presence of Grégory Duval, sprint-hurdles coach, was going to allow the transition from a suburban club to a capital club.

The ambition to add to the MNEL (National Meeting of East Lyonnais), an indoor Meeting in Lyon caught the attention of the League, which was already considering the organization of such an event. Its Managing Director, Jérôme VILLON did not need to be pushed by President Marcel Ferrari to succeed in establishing a budget and very quickly raise the MNIL from the Meeting National category to that of Meeting of the Elite Circuit, as part of the Crédit Mutuel Athlé Tour.

It's not Claire Perraux, Meeting Director, who will say otherwise : the DMA-League co-organization worked very well, and we have managed in a few months to set up a quality Elite meeting both in terms of sport and events. Positive feedback from all stakeholders (athletes, public, partners, juries and volunteers) are the best reward for the work done by the whole team and motivate us to do even better next year.

It is true that despite the sanitary conditions and the restrictions of the gauges, the spectators were there, ready to support the champions who had answered present.

There was what, performances were bursting everywhere. 65 over 1000 points, dont 3 at + of 1150 ! The Federation's website largely reports on these results, highlighting in particular the 7,97 m by Jules Pommery, of the Agreement 58, at 1 cm of the France Espoir record of Teddy Tamgho, most 1 cm above indoor record.

Le junior Jeff Erius (Strasbourg AA) avait raté sa série mais réussi un 6 »69 en finale du 60m, at 5 hundredths of the French Junior record of our Christophe Lemaitre and just behind the Ivorian international Arthur Cissé (AS Villejuif).

The Nancéienne Aurore Fleury lacked 58 hundredths the wall of 9 minutes au 3000m (9’00 »58) devant l’Isralélienne Selamawit Teferi (9’04 »41) and Manon Trapp AS Aix-les-Bains) (9’08 »67).

The French 400m champion and Tokyo Olympics semi-finalist, amandine brossier, approached the best French indoor performance (Floria Gueï – 37 »01) en réalisant son 300m en 37 »59, devant la surprenante Clermontoise Marjorie Veyssière qui signe un 38 »14 encourageant pour le 400m estival.

DMA filed 18 athletes, in front of Nancy, essentially driven by Frédéric Fabiani.

On the side of the athletes, everyone was unanimous in saying that this first edition was a success and within the standards of major meetings, reports Bastien Perraux, Stage Director.

On the partner side, the feedback is also very positive, emphasizes Jérôme Villon, the partners who greatly appreciated the evening, both on the privileged reception upstream and on the evening itself. The very good organization, the spectacle offered by the athletes and the quality of the infrastructure of the Halle Diagana will have enabled the partners who trusted us despite the complicated conditions, to have a great time.

Meet in 2023 !
